Air Distribution Box and Thermostat

Advent Air Air Wall ThermostatAdvent Air Air Distribution Box

The AC unit includes an air distribution box with a built-in thermostat. The thermostat has an LED digital display that lets you control the mode, fan, and temperature settings. If you add an electric heat strip (sold separately) to remove the chill on cold mornings, then the thermostat also controls the heat setting. Additionally, there are adjustable registers on the front and back of the box. These can be tilted up, down, or side-to-side for directing the air where needed. The removable air filter prevents dust and dirt from building up on the fan blades.

Start Capacitor

Advent Air Start Capacitor

If your campsite or generator isn't able to draw the power you need, then you may have difficulty starting your AC unit. The included start capacitor, however, can eliminate this problem. The capacitor stores energy that will later be used to jumpstart the AC. Once the sufficient amount of power has been supplied to the AC, the compressor will start to run, and the internal relay switch will turn the start capacitor off. At the same time, the compressor will send "back voltage" to the relay switch and capacitor in order to energize them for the next startup.

Simple Installation

Advent Air AC Installation 13,500 BTU

Because your RV is likely already prepped and pre-wired for an AC unit, installation is simple and easy. Most AC units, including this one, are designed to fit an opening that measures 14-1/4" x 14-1/4". Depending on your roof setup, you may need to do minimal alterations. If the opening is larger than 14-3/8" x 14-3/8", you will need to install spacers between the sides of the unit and the opening's edges. If the opening is smaller than 14-1/8" x 14-1/8", you will need to enlarge the hole to fit the unit snugly inside the opening.

Advent Air AC Collapsible Gasket and Foam Pads

On the bottom of the AC, there's a thick, collapsible gasket with 6 noise-reducing foam pads. This provides support between the RV roof and AC and seals the opening to prevent water and outside air from leaking in. Because of this, the use of fresh sealant isn't required during installation.

To install the start capacitor, bolt it to the fan motor support with the included hardware and then route the wires to the run capacitor.

Once installed, the hard plastic cover on the AC can easily be removed for maintenance and cleaning.

Advent Air Warranty Coverage

2-Year limited warranty covers defective units when installed correctly on approved applications. The warranty does not cover units installed incorrectly. To ensure air conditioner is installed correctly, please see the questionnaire pdf below. A filled-out questionnaire is required for warranty coverage.

If you are not comfortable using a voltmeter (or removing the charge from the start capacitor), you'll want to make a service appointment with your local RV dealer to verify the installation. Print the pdfs below (warranty- questionnaire, warranty dealer information) and take them along with the RV to your local dealer. ASA does compensate dealers for warranty work as outlined in the dealer information pdf. You may be charged by the dealer for time spent investigating the installation.

  • Advent Air AC Unit to Replace Dometic Unit
Hey Matt, we have what you need but the part # ACM150 only comes with the top portion of the system so it would not be correct. You'd instead want the part # ADV32SR if you have a ductless system or the part # ADV92SR if you have a ducted system and want a wall thermostat. Do you have a ducted setup?

  • Replacement for Dometic Duo 13k on 2008 Keystone Passport Ultra Lite 285RL
Hey Maurice! We no longer recommend swapping out just the AC unit since there have been a lot of compatibility issues. Also, everything is switching to the new R32 refrigerant due to the new 2025 EPA regulations. The old parts for R410A units are already being phased out so it is a good idea to switch so you don't have to replace everything later if something fails. Sticking with the Advent Air you looked at you can choose from the following: -Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single...

  • What To Do If Old AC Unit Is Hardwired Into Camper And Does Not Have A plug?
Hello again, Mike. The best way to resolve this is to simply replace your distribution box at the same time as your AC unit. The distribution boxes are not terribly expensive, and that way you would be able to plug the AC right in without any cutting and splicing. Cutting the plug off of a brand new AC unit is not advised. What I recommend for you is the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV92SR. This comes with the 15K BTU AC unit, distribution box with controller and wall thermostat....

  • Replacing Airxcel AC on 2012 Durango 1500 5th Wheel
Hey Eddie! You can upgrade to a 15k Btu AC and also add the heat strip. The heat strip isn't a substitute for the furnace but it is nice to have the extra help when it is cold out. The # ADV86SR is a new R32 unit, and just the AC unit, so you need to replace the air distribution box along with the thermostat for everything to work. I do recommend switching to one of the new R32 units since all of the old R410A models and parts are getting phased out. With a ducted setup you will need...

  • Are New R32 AC Units Plug and Play With Old R410A Systems
Hi Leah; you won't have to run new wiring but it isn't as simple as plug and play. The thermostat and air distribution box will have to be changed for both of your existing AC units. All of the old systems are set up for R410A refrigerant so complete system replacement is necessary when upgrading to the R32 systems. You will have two single zone systems with the Advent Air, at this time there is no way to turn it into a multi-zone. For the single zone systems you can choose from the following...

  • Best Replacement AC Unit For 2015 Sandpiper 5th Wheel With Dometic 936000681
Hello Chris, thanks for reaching out. Sadly, the ACM150B has been discontinued and is no longer available. With all of the new units going to the R32 refrigerant, the best option for replacing your Dometic 936000681 will be a full AC system replacement. This is the only way to ensure the AC, controller and thermostat will intercommunicate correctly. So for that, I recommend the following: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR This comes...

Hey Martin! Carrier is no longer making RV AC units. Although there were some plug and play replacements available in the past, everything has switched to the new R32 refrigerant following 2025 EPA guidelines. This means a complete system replacement will be necessary. If you want an Advent Air AC you can choose from the following: -Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV32SR or # ADV42SR (Black) -Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Manual - 13,500...

  • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic
Hey Richard, we have what you are looking for from Advent but you would need to replace the entire system you have now including the lower vent like with the part # ADV92SR which comes with the upper and lower units as well as the thermostat you need. Advent and Dometic components are not interchangeable unfortunately.

  • Will Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System Work With Ducted Setup
Hey Mark! The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Manual # ADV32SR is designed to work with a ductless system. Since you have a ducted setup you need the # ADV92SR instead. This has an ADB that works with both ducted and ductless along with a wall thermostat. The start capacitor is still included and you can add an optional heat strip # ADV34QR. Are you replacing an AC unit or adding a new one?

  • Looking For Two Rooftop AC Units For 1998 Winnebago Chieftain
Hello Adam, thanks for reaching out. We do have AC units that can be used on your 1998 Winnebago Chieftain. The best option will be to replace the whole AC system, meaning the rooftop unit, controller, distribution box and thermostat. Reason being all new RV AC units use the new R32 refrigerant and these units are not backwards compatible with old AC systems. What I recommend is the following: - Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System - Single Zone - 15,000 Btu - White - R32 # ADV92SR This...

  • Replacement AC for 2015 Forest River Vengeance Toy Hauler
Hey Dan! Can you at least tell me who the manufacturer is? You can try to swap it out with # ACM135B which fits a 6-pin but I can't guarantee it will work. Due to compatibility issues we only recommend replacing the AC unit itself with the same model. If you can't figure out the manufacturer and what model the AC is the best thing is a complete replacement. Right now is a good time to switch since all of the old models are being replaced with the new R32 units. This means old parts are...

  • Recommended Replacement AC System for a Dometic B57915.711C0 w/ a Furnace
Hey Annabelle thanks for the information. I have a solution for you. However, we have found out in the last year that the Advent replacement options either don't work at all, are a mess to rewire because the pins don't line up with the correct functions, and they always void the warranty when you connect different manufacturer's components. We do not have a Dometic replacement option either. The best solution I have for you is to replace your Dometic B57915.711C0 with the Furrion Chill...

  • Replacement RV AC Unit for 2013 Evergreen Evelite with Coleman Mach 15
Hey Jurgen, looks like the Airxcel model you have is a Coleman Mach 15 with a 15k BTU rating so for an Advent Air unit to replace that I would go with a 15k rated unit as well like the # ADV92SR which is designed for ducted applications like yours. The thermostat that comes with it is compatible with propane heaters as well. How did you like the Coleman?

  • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Use Aftermarket Thermostat
Hey Curtis, with the RV AC units we generally have to recommend you use the same brands wall thermostat as that's only thermostat we can for sure confirm is going to work. In general though we have found that a lot of other brand thermostats will work but it's not always easy to predict when they will.

  • Can Old Advent Air AC Replace Dometic on 5th Wheel
Hi Scott; are you trying to use the same Avent Air AC you bought 3 years ago as the replacement? If the Dometic is dead it is worth a shot but you will have to use the existing air distribution box (ADB) and thermostat. The ADB for the old R410A Advent units is no longer available since everything switched to R32 refrigerant following the 2025 EPA guidelines. We also stopped recommending the old units as a replacement without a complete setup due to compatibility issues. However, there...

  • Can Advent Air RV AC Unit Replace Dometic Duo Therm in RV
Hey George, you can upgrade your Duo Therm to an Advent Air but you have to go with a new lower unit at same time so instead of the # ADV86SR you'd need the part # ADV92SR which comes with the lower unit as well as a thermostat. At one point we thought the Advent and Dometic upper units were interchangeable but we learned it doesn't work reliably so only solution is to replace all of it.

  • Is the Wall Mounted Thermostat with Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System a Real Thermostat?
Hello Grant, The Advent # ADV92SR, when it comes with the wall-mounted thermostat, does in fact function like a true thermostat not just a fancy manual remote. That means it will automatically turn the air conditioner on and off to maintain the temperature you set, just like your thermostat at home. It's a great option if you're looking for a more "set-it-and-forget-it" kind of setup. Unlike basic manual units that just blow air continuously until you physically turn them off or adjust...

  • Does Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System Come With Everything for Installation
Hey John! Yes, the Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV92SR has everything you need for a complete installation. This comes with the AC unit, thermostat, air distribution box, and a start capacitor. Since this is a new R32 refrigerant unit you need to completely replace any old AC components regardless of the system you had before since they won't be backwards compatible. A heat strip # ADV34QR is also available if you need it. What kind of travel trailer do you have?

  • Is Advent Air RV Air Conditioner ADV86SR Compatible With Old Pre-2024 AC System?
Hello Dave, thanks for reaching out. The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner # ADV86SR uses the new R32 refrigerant instead of the old r410a. Any R32 unit will not be backwards compatible with r410a AC systems. The r32 refrigerant is more flammable, so AC manufacturers had to rearrange the internals of the AC units to move the refrigerant away from potential heat sources. So not only could you run into communication errors, but it is quite literally a fire hazard to try to use a new AC unit with...

  • Is Advent Air AC System Compatible With Dometic Duo Therm
Hey Eli! The Advent Air RV Air Conditioner System # ADV92SR you ordered is not compatible with a Dometic Duo Therm. However, it really doesn't matter. This is a new R32 refrigerant unit so it won't be backwards compatible with any of the old R410a units. You will be receiving a thermostat and air distribution box with the AC unit which will allow you to completely replace what you have so compatibility isn't a concern. Let me know if you have any other questions.
